Questions clinics ask us.
What is a CBCT scan?
CBCT stands for cone beam computed tomography. It is the 3D x-ray of the head, jaw and teeth that many dental clinics and scan centres take in a few seconds. It is made of hundreds of thin slices, and we turn those slices into a 3D model of the patient's own skull and jaw.
What do you need from us?
One anonymised scan (DICOM, the standard format your scanner saves) and the report or diagnosis, with the patient's name taken off. Send your logo and brand colours too, so the film is made in your brand from the first draft.
Do you need the patient's name or details?
No. We never need to know who the patient is, so we never ask. Please do not send names, dates of birth, patient numbers or photos.
How do we anonymise the scan?
Most CBCT software has an anonymise option when you export. It removes the name, date of birth and patient number that scan files carry in hidden fields. When the file reaches us, we check it again and remove anything identifying that is left.
How do we send the files?
By any secure file link your clinic already uses and trusts. Send the anonymised scan and the report with the name taken off. Please do not attach scans to an ordinary email.
Does the film give a diagnosis?
No. The film shows only the findings and the treatment written in your report, in plain words and pictures. We never add a diagnosis of our own. Every film says "Not medical advice" and sends the patient back to you with any questions.
How long do you keep the scan?
The scan is used for that one film and nothing else. We keep it for 30 days after you receive the film, so we can make any change you ask for, and then delete it. It is never shared or used in our own marketing.
What is never in the film?
No name, date of birth, patient number, scan date, photo or face. We rebuild only the bone and teeth, so the film shows the anatomy and the findings in your report, and nothing that says who the patient is.
Do we need a data agreement with you?
Because you send an anonymised scan, we never hold the patient's name or details. Some clinics still want a data processing agreement, or a business associate agreement in the US, as good practice. Tell us and we will put one in place before your first scan.
Will it look like our own work?
Yes. The film is white label: your colours, your fonts, your logo and your clinic's name. Your patients see your clinic, not ours.
Which languages can you do?
English and Spanish, and more on request. The labels and words on screen are in the language your patient speaks at home.
How does the patient get the film?
You show it in the chair on the consultation screen, then send it to the patient's phone by WhatsApp, email or text. It plays on any phone, and there is a vertical version made for phones.
What can the film show?
The patient's own skull, jaw and teeth as glowing x-ray glass, with the findings in your report lit up in your brand colour, the jaw opening, closing and sliding, and what the treatment will do, such as a splint, braces or an implant.
Which clinics is it for?
CBCT scan centres, TMJ (jaw joint) clinics, orthodontists and implant clinics, in the UK, the US and Latin America.
Who has the final say?
You do. Nothing goes to a patient until you approve it. Ask for any change and we turn it round as soon as possible.
What does it cost?
It depends on how many films you would like each month. Email us and we will send you the prices.
